The Dr.
Theodore A. Atlas Foundation deeply regrets
to announce the passing of Brianna Macaluso
on August 15, 2006 at the age of 17 from
leukemia. Brianna is a special member of the
Foundation whose strength and spirit
provided inspiration to all of the members,
benefactors and beneficiaries of the
Foundation. Brianna first brought her charm,
smile and warmth to the Foundation several
years ago in the midst of her fight against
her disease. Brianna endeared herself to
many people associated with the Foundation
and set a standard of grace and strength of
character widely admired by those who
encountered her through the Foundation.
On a special
day last year during baseball season,
Brianna, an avid Yankee and Derek Jeter fan,
was provided by the Foundation with a
special visit to Yankee Stadium. During that
visit many of the Yankees were treated with
the opportunity to spend some time with
Brianna. Brianna posed for pictures with Don
Mattingly, Mike Mussina and Derek Jeter.
While Brianna was naturally thrilled to roam
the halls of Yankee Stadium with the
players, it was evident that they too were
charmed by Brianna’s warm and engaging
personality.

During our
last dinner in November 2005, Brianna
charmed 1000 guests at the Hilton Garden Inn
with her eloquent testimonial filled with
kind words for the Foundation and its
benefactors. Brianna’s description of her
association with the Foundation and in
particular the friendship she developed with
our Chairman, Teddy Atlas, was a highlight
of the evening. At that moment, Brianna
truly embodied the meaning of grace,
strength and compassion.
We will all
miss Brianna greatly and will keep her and
her family in our thoughts and prayers.
